EPICURE showcases support for European HPC users at EuroHPC User Days 2026

Work optimising a drug-design workflow on European supercomputers was presented in Dublin, where the project also came up in several sessions of the programme

The EPICURE project was at the EuroHPC User Days 2026, the main annual meeting of the European supercomputing community. There, it presented work on optimising computational drug-design workflows and gained visibility in discussions on the future of the EuroHPC ecosystem.

The fourth edition of the event was organised by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and took place at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road in Dublin, Ireland. It brought together around 700 participants on site and a further 200 online. Over three days, users, hosting entities, developers and policymakers discussed results from projects running on Europe’s supercomputing, quantum and AI infrastructures, shared best practices and gave feedback to shape what comes next.

Faster drug discovery on European supercomputers

EPICURE’s main contribution was a poster and talk titled “PRedictive Exploration of Correlation In Specific Interactions and Optimization Networks: Optimization of the PRECISION workflow for Computational Drug Design”, presented by Giorgia Frumenzio of CINECA.

The work shows how the PRECISION workflow, used to explore molecular interactions in computational drug design, was optimised to run efficiently on EuroHPC systems. It is a concrete example of the hands-on application support EPICURE offers to researchers, helping them make better use of Europe’s most powerful computing resources.

The study has since been published in the event proceedings in Procedia Computer Science as “Optimization of the PRECISION workflow for Computational Drug Design”. The proceedings also include other contributions presented in Dublin, such as “Distributed Large-Scale Traffic Simulation for Urban and Regional Mobility Analysis”.

EPICURE at EuroHPC User Days 2026

A growing presence in the EuroHPC community

EPICURE’s presence went beyond the poster session. Several speakers mentioned the project in their presentations, and it came up in the discussion during the EuroHPC Federation Platform (EFP) session. It also featured in the slides presented at the EuroHPC User Forum session, one of the event’s key moments for gathering feedback from the user community.

These mentions across the programme reflect EPICURE’s growing role as a reference point for application support within the EuroHPC ecosystem. Taking part in the User Days strengthened the project’s ties with users and hosting sites and confirmed its commitment to helping researchers across Europe get the most out of the continent’s supercomputers.
