EPICURE highlighted during LUMI-BE User Day 2025
The third edition of the LUMI-BE User Day, jointly organised by EuroCC Belgium and the Vlaams Supercomputer Centrum (VSC), brought together users, researchers and stakeholders from the Belgian high-performance computing (HPC) ecosystem on December 17, 2025. As part of the parallel LUMI-BE session, participants shared experiences and practical insights from their work on the LUMI supercomputer.
The programme included a talk entitled “Short update on getting access to EuroHPC infrastructure and support”, delivered by Stefan Becuwe (University of Antwerp). This presentation provided an overview of the different access routes to EuroHPC infrastructures, including LUMI, underlining both national and European access mechanisms. During the session, an overview of the support services available to help users prepare, scale and optimise their applications for large-scale HPC systems was provided.
Stefan Becuwe also seized the session to raise awareness of EPICURE and its role in supporting researchers and industry in accessing EuroHPC resources and making effective use of advanced computing infrastructures across Europe.
The presentation further illustrated the available support through real examples of projects that have already benefited from EPICURE support. These included success stories where application codes were analysed and optimised to improve scalability, performance, and efficient use of large-scale HPC resources, as well as cases involving code porting and adaptation to EuroHPC architectures.
The LUMI-BE User Day 2025 reinforced collaboration within the HPC community and promoted wider engagement with EPICURE and EuroHPC programmes.
