About the talk:
Numba is a package that will do the heavy lifting for you when you want to offload computations to GPUs. In this webinar, you will learn how to use it, as well as about potential performance issues, and how to remedy those. These performance optimisations are not specific to numba, so what you learn is transferable to GPU programming in general.
About the speaker:
Geert Jan Bex has been working for the Vlaams Supercomputing Centrum (VSC) since 2009. Besides user support, his focus is mainly on training. Over the years, he has developed and/or training sessions on scientific computing, parallel programming and GPU programming, as well as machine learning.
About the moderator:
Cláudia Brito is currently an Assistant Researcher at INESC TEC (and part of the DSR HASLab group) and an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. Her current research focus is on AI for Systems and Systems for AI. In detail, her research interests have been shifting towards the following topics: AI for systems optimisations and tuning, Storage optimisations for AI workloads, Energy consumption optimisation for data-intensive workloads, Application-specific AI for healthcare.
