EPICURE completes first review meeting with solid progress
The 2nd EPICURE technical meeting gathered our experts to Antwerpen, Belgium, last week. The two-day meeting included updates on the status of the technical support work EPICURE offers and next steps in our work. Additionally, we heard interesting presentations on the supported projects and lessons learned from this work. Most importantly, we were able to spend time together in-person and exchange ideas to further develop our work.
Strong advances in HPC support
The EPICURE consortium presented the work done so far, and the review confirmed that the project is presenting solid progress in its mission to provide Level 2 and Level 3 high-performance computing application (HPC) support.
Since the project’s launch, the Application Support Teams (ASTs) have been established and are now providing specialised support to EuroHPC projects. To date, 27 projects have been completed, and 54 additional projects are receiving EPICURE assistance at the end of M18.
The reviewers also complimented the successful development of the EPICURE support manager, a positive step towards streamlining coordination for the Level 2 and Level 3 support teams. Furthermore, the organisation of training activities and collaboration with key stakeholders, such as the Centres of Excellence (CoEs), were highlighted in the review meeting.
A key milestone recognised by the experts was the development of the European HPC Application Support Portal. Originally planned for completion at the end of the project, the earlier delivery represents a strategic achievement that will enable wider dissemination of outcomes and projects.
Plans for the EPICURE future
Looking ahead, the reviewers encouraged EPICURE to continue strengthening the visibility of its technical work, expand training activities, and further enrich the Support Portal with high-quality content.
Overall, the review acknowledged EPICURE’s strong achievements and a growing portfolio of supported projects, effectively continuing the legacy of European collaboration in HPC.
